JAIPUR (INDIA): The Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government in Rajasthan has decided to reinstate concessional land allotments to various castes and communities, state’s urban development and housing minister said.
The minister said that out of the 61 land allotments, a maximum of 35 allotments are in Kota district. Different organisations will be given land at six places in Jaipur.
“We have been receiving demands from the members of various castes and communities after which the state Cabinet decided to allot land at concessional rates,” state’s Urban Development and Housing Minister (UDH) Srichand Kriplani said.
“The rate of re-allotment is yet to be decided,” he said.
However, the original decision was taken by the previous Congress government in Rajasthan.
It should also be noted that the state government, after coming to power in 2013, had cancelled 61 of such land allotments made by the previous Congress government.
Incidentally, the U-turn of the Vasundhara Raje government comes close on the heels of them giving a go-ahead to a luxury residential complex — which they had cancelled initially.
The then Ashok Gehlot government had agreed to allot the land at concessional rates ahead of the 2013 assembly polls, and now the BJP government has given a green signal ahead of assembly election scheduled by the end of next year.
