NEW DELHI (INDIA): The BJP-led North Delhi Municipal Corporation on Monday launched its new-look website with added features even as its mayor asserted that the move would promote e-governance and reduce the scope for corruption.
A major new feature of the website is the facility for residents to apply for mutation or change of name in property tax records online.
“The website is user-friendly and it would enhanceadministrative efficiency besides, reducing scope forcorruption as it will cut down on human contact and promotee-governance,” North Delhi Mayor Preety Agarwal toldreporters.
Municipal Commissioner Praveen Gupta said the idea now isto go from “in line to online” as much as possible to getcivic work done and offer more ease to people.
“Also, now people can apply for mutation of property taxrecords online. And, mutation certificate would also be madeavailable online.
“The website also contains easy access links to variousplatforms — Mayor helpline, call centre help line, onlineparking lot management system, and online unauthorisedconstruction management system,” he said.
Mayor Agarwal said the website would soon be linked withsocial media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter andInstagram, so that it becomes more interactive for people.
The civic body had recently launched a mobile applicationfor addressing parking woes, which allows residents to lodgeparking-related complaints with the NDMC directly.
Soon after assuming charge on May 18, Agarwal had saidthat her top priority would be sanitation.
The saffron party had swept the high-stakes election tothree municipal corporations held on April 23, winning 181of the total 272 wards.
The website has been designed and developed with latesttechnology. It is also optimised for mobile-based users whichmeans, they can access it anywhere, anytime with a smartphone.
The South Delhi Municipal Corporation had on May 17relaunched its website with added features and enhanced look-and-feel.
