NEW DELHI (INDIA): Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today met Minister for Urban Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information & Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu and discussed various aspects of implementation of new urban sector schemes in the State.
Stressing on the need for timely execution of new schemes launched for development of basic urban infrastructure, affordable housing, ensuring cleanliness, public transportation etc., Shri Venkaiah Naidu informed Punjab CM about the recent initiative of conducting review meetings in state capitals across the country for first hand report on implementation issues and progress under new missions.
Senior officials from the two Urban Ministries of Government of India and State Government participated in the discussions.
Naidu mentioned that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, project appraisal and decision making is being delegated to the States in the true spirit of cooperative federalism so that project approvals and execution is expedited.
Naidu informed Punjab Chief Minister that a spirit of healthy competition is being promoted among cities to improve urban planning and execution for better service delivery.
