BUDAPEST: Hungary’s construction sector output rose by an annuall 18.5 percent in January after a 14.9 percent decline in December, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Thursday.
In 2016, output was 18.8 % lower than in 2015.
The KSH said the rise decline was largely due to an increase in the construction of industrial structures, and to a lesser extent sporting and education venues.
The volume of new orders more than tripled in January, adding 211.8 percent year-on-year, mostly down to large sporting venue construction and high-value motorway construction projects, it said.
The stock of orders at the end of the month was 122.8 percent higher than a low base registered a year earlier. (Reporting by Marton Dunai)
